Growing up in Kentucky, John was drawn to the guitar by the local blues and bluegrass musicians that he saw at summer festivals by the Ohio River. He got his first guitar at the age of 14 and it quickly became apparent that it was going to be more than a hobby. His work earned him a scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where he earned a Bachelor's in Guitar Performance in 2004.

Over the last few years John has emerged as a soulful and versatile musician on the NYC scene and he has shared the stage and recorded with an array of great musicians, singers and rappers from all over the world. He has appeared on MTV with Curren$y and Big K.R.I.T., and on BET's Music Matters and 106 and Park with Stalley. When not performing live, John is actively involved in studio projects.
